How to Speed Up Your Metabolism
August 21st, 2008 Posted in HealthLet’s be honest, we all make generalizations about people the first time we see them. Are you lonely? Depressed? Does it feel like no one could ever love you?? Well stop being a loser and do something about it!
Your lack of self confidence likely stems from a poor self image. If you suffer from lack of confidence, don’t fear. Daily Idea has the antidote to get you in control and surefooted in no time. There are many things people look for in the opposite sex. But let’s be honest, we all make generalizations about people the first time we see them. Therefore, you’re going to need every possible weapon in your arsenal to bag the best partner, and a great body is definitely one of your big guns. While we can’t exactly tell you how to have a great personality or teach you how to “be cool” because we horde that secret for personal gain, a great body is something nature doesn’t always provide that CAN be improved upon with a little time, dedication, and planning.
Now unless you’re a direct descendant of the Spartan bloodline or you’ve spent a great deal of time perfecting your body in the gym, you may have areas that need some special attention.
Fortunately there have been vast advances in our understanding of the human body and how it works in the last few thousand years and we no longer have to train our whole lives away to get ripped. If a perfect body is your holy grail, try re-arranging your daily activity schedule to fit in some of these key steps:
First of all, eat less more often.
It’s all about portion control people! Eating 5-6 times a day in smaller quantities keeps your metabolism burning consistently throughout the day.
Mom wasn’t lying when she said the most important meal of the day is breakfast. A big breakfast, preferably high in fiber, gets your metabolism started and will give you energy to burn!
Secondly, incorporate some weight training at least a few times a week. Weight training is essential to speeding up metabolism and, of course, building muscles. How else do you think AC Slater got Jesse??
Remember with weight training not to overdo it though. Your muscles will hurt because they have torn and they will need a day or two to rebuild, but every time they do they will grow back bigger.
Also remember to push your legs from time to time with heavy weight as it also helps your metabolic rate and keeps your body more balanced.
Cardio is another important element to building a better body. Try some type of cardio for 20-30 minutes a few times a week. On your in-between days try doing something more intense for a shorter time period, such as a half mile sprint. Unlike weight training, cardio can be done every day if you so desire and will yourself.
Along with deliberate exercise, try slipping in some unintentional work as well, such as taking the stairs or doing some yard work. This is just one more thing that will keep your body burning fat like a like the DeLorean burns plutonium.
Finally, even if you’re a 21 year old frat boy, try to cut back your alcohol consumption. It’s not rocket science people, there’s a reason it’s called a “beer gut”. Most alcohol has a lot of calories and slows metabolism. But if you must drink…remember portion control. So instead of that keg, go for the six pack. You’ve got to start somewhere.
And that’s another Daily Idea.
