Hi, I’m Nikki Key and you’re watching The Daily Idea.
In case you are unaware, The Daily Idea is daily. Our goal is to produce content, both video and text every weekday that informs and entertains you. And we are so honored that you are watching us right now. But we realize you’re busy and coming back to our web site everyday can be a hassle.
Because you are watching us, I can assume you have some basic Internet knowledge. However, for those who have joined the Tivo DVR world, you’re hooked on watching shows when you want. For those that don’t have one, YOU don’t know what you’re missing. Lucky for you, web video can be watched the same way… but for FREE!
And thanks to our hard working staff, this episode shows you how to watch your favorite web shows without all the geek-speak.
Let’s start with the basics. You’ve probably seen this little button a lot if you read any blogs or check out any video sites like ours. Apparently, this is an RSS button. And here’s how it works.
We realize The Daily Idea is not the only site you visit when you are on your computer.
So by clicking the RSS button, you can add our site to a reader, which allows you to view all your subscribed content on one page.
But it’s not just for blogs or text… videos work too! Google Reader, My Yahoo, and iGoogle are some examples of readers. Easy enough, right?
Maybe you are an iTunes junky. Great. Did you know you can watch hundreds of popular web shows in iTunes?
Search for your favorite show or browse the categories and just click the subscribe button! That’s all it takes. Every time a new video comes out… iTunes downloads it for you.
Did we mention YouTube has the same feature? Just click subscribe and you’ve got your own “YouTube Tivo”… and it’s free!
Still have a myspace account …ok, I confess … so do we. Many web shows still post videos to MySpace and AGAIN you can subscribe there too!
Actually you can subscribe to your favorite video content at all the popular video sites like DailyMotion, Metacafe, Veoh, Yahoo, Viddler, Crackle and Blip. Yes… it’s free there too.
If we’ve lost some of you along the way, many video sites even let you receive email updates when a new episode is posted.
Now you have no excuse for not connecting with your favorite web shows… such as… The Daily Idea.
For those of you who still love to surf back to a site each day, be sure to look through the archives for some great episodes you may have missed.
For example… Need some help with your career? We got it.
How about health? We got that too.
How about Butterscotch Pudding? OK…we don’t have that yet. But we do have a lot.
And of course, you can find all this at daily idea dot tv.
And that’s another Daily Idea.
