Hi, I’m Nikki Key and you’re watching Daily Idea.
NIKKI: This Sunday, the 80th Annual Academy Awards will be presented at the world famous Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. Because this is such a special event, we sent our own Special Awards Ceremony Correspondent Joe Bennett out to Hollywood. Let’s go to Joe now.
JOE: Thanks Nikki. I’ve got to tell you, it is amazing being out here with all these stars. Excuse me for just a second…George…George…Hey, loved you on the Facts of Life, buddy…
NIKKI: Joe, were you just talking to the George Clooney?
JOE: Yeah, it’s no big deal. You see these kinds of stars all the time out here.
NIKKI: Wow, that’s amazing. Tell us Joe, from your inside information, who do you think will take home the trophies this year?
JOE: Wow…great question, Nikki. Really great question (obviously stalling for time). I mean, if I were going to ask me a question about the Academy Awards, that would be it. Of course that’s why you’re the host. You know what you’re doing. Wow…great question.
(awkward moment)
NIKKI: So, what’s your answer?
JOE: Oh, you wanted me to answer now. Oh…OK. I think that movie…that movie about that…uh…situation with the conflict and…uh…and the…resolution with the plot will…uh…win the Oscar.
NIKKI: Joe, do you know anything about the actual Academy Awards?
JOE: Well, when you put it that way…not really (Hollywood bluescreen image fades).
NIKKI: Hey, what happened to your background? Are you even in Hollywood?
JOE: Dang it. (to the side) Jay, I told you to keep the image up the whole time. (back to camera) Nikki, I’m going to be honest with you. I’m not in Hollywood, per se. I’m at my buddy, Jay’s apartment.
NIKKI: So what did you do with all that money we gave you to fly out to Hollywood to do this very report?
JOE: Another great question. I…uh…bought a Wii and a bunch of games. Its so cool. You should come over this Sunday night and play.
NIKKI: I can’t come over then. I’ll be watching the Academy Awards!
JOE: The Oscars are this Sunday? Huh. Man, you seem to know a lot about that stuff. Maybe you should just do this report?
NIKKI: Yeah…I would if we had any time left.
JOE: My bad. I feel awful about this. Let me make this up to you. I’ll wikipedia the Oscars tonight and write a report to put on our site for our viewers. Would that make things a little better?
NIKKI: A little. But you better do it, Joe.
JOE: Totally. Well, I’m Special Awards Ceremony Correspondent Joe Bennett reporting from Hollywood…(off to the side) Dude, put up the image again…reporting from Hollywood. Back to you, Nikki.
