Hi, I’m Nikki Key and you’re watching the Daily Idea.

On February 17th, millions of people will be tuning into the 50th running of the Daytona 500, NASCAR’s premier event. Now, I realize some of you may not understand what is so exciting about watching cars go around in a circle for 200 laps.

That is why our staff at the Daily Idea has been working so hard to come up with 3 reasons you need to watch the Daytona 500.

Number 1: Nascar Fans

It is hard to find a more devoted group of fans anywhere. These are people who live and die by their favorite racecar driver.

The Daytona 500 is more than just a race…it is an experience. Where else can you go to see a whole family cry when Junior loses or see a man shave the number 3 into his back hair. Exactly.

Number 2: Ashley Judd

Her husband, Dario Frankeyti just switched from IRL racing to NASCAR. And honestly, who doesn’t like to look at Ashley Judd…wait a minute…I don’t care about looking at Ashley Judd. I’m a girl and I’m sick of you guy writers not writing for me.

Number 2 is not going to be some hot girl. I’m changing Number 2 to some hot NASCAR guy. So ladies, how about Tony Stewart? No…how about Mark Martin? No. Maybe Jimmy Johnson… Nahh. Alright, fine …Number 2 is Ashley Judd.

And now for Number 3:

Because this is the debut season of the Car of Tomorrow and who knows how Dale Jr. will do with Hendrick Motorsports and don’t forget about Waltrip and whether he can redeem himself after last year’s mess…don’t even get me started…and of course there’s Toyota’s emergence thanks to Joe Gibbs and I mean, this is only one of four restrictor plate races for the whole season and this is the biggest event of the year for NASCAR with 50 glorious years of history behind it so why wouldn’t you be into it?

So I like the Daytona 500…what?

And there you have it…your guide to the Daytona 500.

And that’s another Daily Idea.

You GO GIRL!!! With the way you presented the 3rd reason to watch the Daytona 500, I’ll not be surprised if you start receiving calls from some of the top teams,i.e, RHR,RCR,JGR, Smoke, FatBack, Hollywood Jeff Hammonds, etc inquiring if you’re interested as becoming the head of their PR department, or their spokesperson!! Everyone likes a girl who knows the inside/out to NASCAR.
