Motivational Tips To Hit The Gym

As the New Year rolls in, millions make a resolution to start visiting the gym more and get in shape. Most will probably just go to the gym for the first few weeks and then stop. Here are a few tips and tricks to motivate yourself to continue to go.

Hi I am Nikki Key and you are watching the Daily Idea.

Once again you have made a resolution to start visiting the gym more and get in shape as the New Year rolls in. However, like every other year you will probably just go to the gym for the first few weeks and stop going just like 40% of rest of the country. What you need to do is figure out how to motivate yourself to continue to go, we here at the Daily Idea have a few tips and tricks.

What I personally like to do is plaster pictures of those famous fat twins on mini motorcycles all over my apartment. In fact I even enlist my friends to come over and help hide various pictures throughout the house, it is a giant party. The motivations lasts for months, when I open the refrigerator and there are the twins, not only does this motivate me to go to the gym but instead of eating that entire block of cheese I choose something healthy.

When I feel like a drink and open the liquor cabinet there are a few pictures of them, this reminds me not to get tanked so I can wake up early for the gym tomorrow. This trick is a constant reminder and also a motivating factor in a lifestyle change. Of course if you are dating this could really creep out anyone you bring home. In fact make sure you don’t put any pictures where you keep the condoms.

Another trick you can deploy is take audio clips of Sergeant Hartman from the movie, “Full Metal Jacket” and play them whenever you don’t feel like going to the gym. It’s like having your own personal drill instructor! Is there anything better than having R Lee Emery asking you, “What Is Your Major Malfunction?” Plus on most of the quotes he uses really colorful language that will really drive you to get to the gym out of fear of him showing up at your house.

While these methods have been decidedly low tech, there has been an emergence of other methods that you can use. One example that Dave Johnson of Bridgeport, Connecticut has cooked up is combining a GPS receiver and electronic nodes attached to his (pause) hind quarters. He sets a timer in the GPS and if he isn’t in the gym at the specific time he programmed, he is given enough voltage to stun a medium sized forest animal. If you get shocked a few times you won’t want to go through it again, especially after you urinate yourself in public.
