“Get your loan before you go”….excellent advice.
Also, always a good idea to go in with a friend/spouse and play good cop/bad cop. One is excited about the car, but reliant on the other’s unlikely approval to buy.

Vey good ideals for purchasing a car! Although many people might see some of these tactics as being cut throat one has to remember that if you dont use tactics in your advantage, the car dealer will! Be the cutthroat.

My friend’s father, who was helping purchase my first car, actually stood up in the middle of negotiations and started screaming at the dealer and his manager and waving his arms around like a wild ape.
That tip did not make it into the show.

It’s fine to have your loan before you go (though if you have good credit, the dealer can usually get as good - if not better - a rate than you can get yourself; you just have to make sure they know you know what a good rate is). But don’t tell the dealer up front that you’ve already arranged your financing - they can make serious money off that; if they know it’s not available, they’re that much less likely to be flexible on the sales price. Wait until you’ve agreed on a price to tell them you have your own financing.
